September 22nd was the last day of summer. In case you guys didn’t know. For some it’s a time to reflect and reminisce on the summer that is passing. Personally, this summer was crazy. A lot of personal and professional changes, a lot of emotional ups and downs, a lot of fucking good times. All in all, a solid summer in the city. I can honestly say that I have grown a lot, learned a lot, and have grown stronger in a lot of ways. Others aren’t reflecting. Others are panicking. You know why? Because cuffing season has officially begun.
According to Urbandictionary.com, the definition of cuffing season is as follows:
For those of you who live under a rock, let me break down cuffing season for you. It’s the time of the year when its start to get cold, and the lonely singles go out on the prowl, in hopes of finding a steady cuddlebuddy, fuckbuddy, or potential winter boo. Now what I find so hilarious about cuffing season, is that women constantly get bashed by men for being ‘thirsty’ during this time of year. We’re the ones tweeting love songs and sending sad face emoticons, complaining about being lonely and all that. Now granted, some of that is true. But I have been paying attention to some of the male counterparts on my timeline, and let me tell you this: men are just as ‘thirsty’ during this time of year. I’ll tell you why. If you’re constantly tweeting at 1am about how you wish you had some cheeks, or that you realize how single you really are…and then hours later complaining about how ‘bitches ain’t shit’ you sir, are a FRAUD. You can’t bash us in one instant and then complain about being sad, lonely, and horny in the next. You get just as sad and depressed during this year as the rest of us, stop it. And you know what? It’s okay. There’s nothing wrong with wanting someone. Yes, when it’s cold outside, sometimes you would prefer to stay home and watch movies and snuggle. It doesn’t make you a pussy if you feel this way. It doesn’t make a woman soft or pathetic either. Its cold outside, and EVERYONE likes to cuddle. I don’t care what you say. Everyone just needs to be honest with each other, and realize that it can be a tough time for everyone.
HOWEVER, this is no excuse to cuff any old thing. The problem with cuffing season is that it brings out the desperate in individuals. You will bring home any kind of struggle just to say you had something to hold at night. Stop that. You’re only hurting yourself. In the moment it probably awesome, but that’s just it. It’s temporary. Don’t be the desperate single cuffing anything that gives you a second look because you don’t want to be alone during the winter. That’s what snuggies and thermal underwear is for. Remember, you have value, and you deserve to ‘cuff’ someone who knows your value. It’s better to be alone and secure in who you are and what you want, then spooning with some fail every weekend because its 30 degrees out. Get it together, don’t let cuffing season mess with your mind, or your heart. Stay warm, folks!
