Around this time, a lot of magazines and blogs do some kind of Valentine’s Day spread, that goes a little something like this:
’10 Tips to survive Singledom on V-Day’
‘How to Cope with Loneliness on V-Day’
‘Fuck V-Day-100 Reasons why it’s a Stupid Holiday’
I decided, fuck all that. The very idea that one had to ‘survive’ a manufactured holiday is absurd. It comes every year, just like Halloween or Groundhogs’s Day. Big. Deal.
I’m gonna try something different regardless of whether you’re single or taken on V-Day. This post is for ya’ll. We’re gonna talk about all things LOVE, and why it’s dope. We all talk about love, a lot. We want it, we hate it, we had it, we lost it. But what is it about love? Let’s begin.
Of course, I wanted to get some ideas and feedback from fellow 20-somethings and what they love, about LOVE.
I certainly got some thoughtful answers!
‘ I love that LOVE is real and genuine.’
‘The way it makes my cheeks sore from smiling so much.’
‘Those collective moments of euphoria when the person you’re with enjoys your company and you enjoy theirs.’
‘The way that love makes people want to be better versions of themselves, that’s my favorite part. And how feeling love encourages you to spread that love throughout your everyday life. It’s like you have a fountain inside of you, and love just overflows into everything you do.’
‘When you kiss the person you love- it’s like this weird, strong force that permanently bonds you together. In that moment, you belong to no one but each other.’
ALL THE FEELS, AMIRIGHT?!
Let’s talk about the best love songs. There’s literally fifty-leven amazing songs that make you cry and send that text that you shouldn’t. I compiled a list of 14 song I personally love:

- Stevie Wonder- You are the Sunshine of My Life (insert smile here)
- John Legend- Save Room
- Jason Mraz- I’m Yours
- Anthony Hamilton- Please Stay (he sang this and meant it)

Last but not least, 14 rom-coms you should def watch in life, and on V-day if you plan on staying in.

These are all just fucking awesome movies in general. But before I leave you…
I thought it would be super cuteawesomeamazing if I posed some V-Day questions to Erika Alexander and Kim Coles from the 90s hit, ‘Living Single!‘ If you haven’t heard, Erika Alexander and Kim Coles (Synclair) are teaming up for a new web series, ‘BFF Chronicles.’ The series will showcase the twosome’s friendship, talking about love, sex, families and everything in between, with a comedic spin. It definitely is going to be everything! Here’s a snippet of our interview on love and V-Day:
1.What do you love most about ‘love?’
Erika: Love is universal. Love is non-denominational. Love needs no interpretation. Love is love.
Kim: Love is everywhere and the reason for everything. Love is strength and power and joy. Love is my default position.
2. What does Valentine’s Day mean to you?
Erika: Free chocolate, a strong cocktail, and, if I’m lucky, “seconds.” Yum.
Kim: I don’t like that we put pressure on each other ( and especially on our men) to spend tons of $$$ and “prove” love. Shoot, show me everyday by your everyday actions, not overpriced flowers. I do like the chocolate though : )
3. What advice would you give to others about dating/falling in love?
Erika: There are no love borders. Spread your net. Date people outside your neighborhood, community, political party, religion or nationality. Mom was right, there are a lot of fish in the ocean, but you gotta get in the boat and sail that bad boy!
Kim: You must give yourself RADICAL love and acceptance before you can truly experience the love of a mate. Look within first and love on you and then you will radiate that outwards. It will help you attract someone who is whole also. And good sex is not love… although is sure is NICE!!! Grrowwwwlllll!
Be sure to check out their new webseries on Youtube, ‘BFF Chronicles’ ,with a very special Valentine’s Day episode this Friday, February 13th at 9a PST/12p EST. A new episode will be released every Wednesday at 9a PST/12p EST ! Happy Valentine’s Day!
